The Gaza Ceasefire Phase 1 Map shows how Israeli forces will withdraw under the new deal announced by US President Donald Trump. In the first stage Israel will retain control over nearly 60 percent of Gaza while Hamas begins releasing hostages and Israel frees Palestinian detainees. The map outlines a yellow line marking the first withdrawal zone.
Trump confirmed early Wednesday that Hamas and Israel had agreed on the first phase of the ceasefire. He said all hostages would be released soon and Israeli troops would pull back to the agreed yellow line shown on a map released on October 4. The area inside the yellow line covers roughly 155 square kilometres leaving nearly 60 percent of Gaza under Israeli control.
In this phase Israeli forces will stay in parts of Gaza City’s Shujayea Tuffah and Zeitoun areas along with Beit Lahiya Beit Hanoon most of Khan Younis and almost all of Rafah. Israel will also maintain control of all border crossings including the Rafah crossing with Egypt.
The plan consists of three stages. The first involves the yellow line withdrawal. The second phase will see an international force support local policing while Israel retreats further to the red line. The third stage will create a limited security buffer zone under international supervision.
