The Israeli government has approved a new Gaza ceasefire deal aimed at ending months of violence and easing tensions in the region. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the agreement includes the release of both living and deceased hostages.
Under the Gaza ceasefire, Hamas must free 20 living hostages within 72 hours, followed by the return of 28 bodies. In return, Israel will release around 250 prisoners serving life terms and 1,700 Gaza detainees.
The deal also opens the way for humanitarian aid, with hundreds of trucks carrying food, medicine, and fuel to Gaza. Israel will allow 400 aid trucks daily for the first five days, increasing later as stability improves.
An international monitoring team including the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey will oversee the truce and report any violations. While the ceasefire brings hope challenges remain as Hamas insists it will not disarm until a Palestinian state is recognized.
The Gaza ceasefire has sparked celebrations in both Israel and Gaza as families hope for lasting peace after months of suffering and loss.
