Shahbaz wrote on X that he believes peace between Palestinians and Israel is important for the future of the region. He praised Trump and envoy Steve Witkoff for their efforts and said a two state solution is the only way to achieve peace.
Soon after his post people reacted strongly. Many accused Shahbaz of trying to please the United States and moving away from Pakistan long standing support for Palestine. Some even said his words gave recognition to Israel.
