USA Niagara Development Corporation and the City of Niagara Falls announced the first project funded by the Niagara Falls Small Business Property Improvement Grant Program is complete.
The program has awarded over $500000 in grants supporting small businesses and revitalization of the citys downtown commercial corridors.
The $5 million initiative provides grants of up to fifty percent of total eligible costs up to one hundred thousand dollars per property and aims to foster growth in mixed-use business districts.
The first grant was awarded to 324 Niagara Street Tenant LLC for the build-out of a tenant space housing SkinCare Essentials by Jill at 324 Niagara Street.
The project activated the Niagara Street commercial corridor and contributed to the full occupancy of the historic Tugby Lennon block The block consists of three attached historic structures restored in 2022 creating over four thousand square feet of first-floor commercial space below apartments on the upper floors.
Leaders emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in revitalizing Niagara Falls USA Niagara Development Corporation President Anthony Vilardo said the program takes first steps to reactivate the city as a vibrant pedestrian friendly environment.
Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino highlighted the citys commitment to supporting small businesses and fostering development.
In addition to supporting small businesses the city is planning significant residential growth in the Garner west and northwest areas Preferred concept plans have been endorsed projecting up to 4700 units in Garner west and 3050 units in the northwest area by 2051.
The plans include mixed-use development higher densities near main roads central parks schools and environmental protections for wetlands and watercourses.
Officials said the development concepts offer flexibility to developers while maintaining community connectivity and pedestrian friendly design Infrastructure planning for roads water and storm water management is also incorporated Councillor concerns about urban boundary expansion and housing affordability were noted emphasizing the need to balance growth with resident needs.
The combination of grant programs and strategic urban planning demonstrates Niagara Falls commitment to revitalization business growth and sustainable housing expansion.
As projects continue the city is positioned to enhance commercial activity support small businesses and accommodate a growing population.
