Tarleton State mens basketball coach Billy Gillispie has been placed on temporary administrative leave as the university investigates a complaint The school has not shared details about the complaint or how long the investigation will last Assistant coach Glynn Cyprien will step in as acting head coach.
This comes just weeks before Tarleton opens the season against SMU on November 3 Gillispie now 65 was hired by Tarleton in 2020 and has led the program through its transition to Division I He holds a 78 74 record with two postseason appearances.
Gillispies career has often been marked by both success and controversy At Texas AM he turned the program into a winner and was named Big 12 Coach of the Year twice At UTEP he pulled off one of the biggest turnarounds in NCAA history But at Kentucky and Texas Tech his tenures ended in disputes and allegations of mistreating players.
