More people than ever are choosing to live abroad and a new survey has revealed the best countries for expats in 2025. According to Internations which surveyed more than 10000 expats across 172 nationalities, the destinations that ranked highest offered not only quality of life but also financial stability and a welcoming culture.
Panama took the top spot this year ranking first overall thanks to its strong performance in working abroad ease of settling in and affordability. Expats highlight its stunning natural beauty and opportunities for digital nomads and retirees although bureaucracy and environmental challenges can be obstacles.
Colombia secured second place driven by affordable living and a warm local culture. Expats describe Colombians as welcoming and say the country offers a true sense of belonging along with opportunities for growth and purpose.
Mexico ranked third with its rich culture friendly atmosphere and lower cost of living. Expats here praise the food healthcare and work flexibility while noting that learning Spanish is essential to integrate fully.
Other countries rounding out the top five include Thailand and Vietnam both praised for affordability lifestyle and ease of making friends.
As more people seek better work life balance and community abroad these countries stand out as prime destinations for expats in 2025.
