A massive Bangkok sinkhole appeared on a busy road near Vajira Hospital and a police station pulling down power lines and halting traffic. Authorities confirmed no injuries or deaths while evacuations were carried out in the area. The sinkhole measuring around 50 meters in length and covering about 900 square meters was linked to heavy rain a leaking water pipe and ongoing underground construction work.
Rescue teams rushed to secure the site as residents were warned to stay away due to the growing risk of collapse. Thailand’s Prime Minister said dirt from underground railway construction worsened the situation while local disaster officials confirmed a burst pipe triggered the sinkhole. Utilities electricity and water supply were disrupted as authorities worked to stabilize the area and prevent further damage.
Footage shared online showed parts of the road sinking deeper into the hole as workers placed barriers and diverted traffic. Officials said repair work would continue until the site was safe for residents businesses and hospital staff in the affected neighborhood.
