Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup Super Fours match in Abu Dhabi became a must win contest for both sides. Pakistan chose to field first after winning toss as they suffered loss vs India earlier. Sri Lanka too came in after a Super Fours loss to Bangladesh.
Shaheen Shah Afridi struck early removing Kusal Mendis for a duck. Hussain Talat and Abrar Ahmed picked crucial wickets and Sri Lanka were in deep trouble. At 15 overs Sri Lanka were slipping to 88 for 6.
Kamindu Mendis tried a comeback with the bat but wickets kept falling around him. Pakistan’s bowlers kept the pressure high not giving Sri Lanka easy chances.
With this win Pakistan keep their hopes alive for a spot in the Asia Cup final. Sri Lanka now will have to pull off a miracle in next games to stay in competition.
