Six people were killed and several injured after two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a busy bus stop in Jerusalem. The attackers were shot dead by security forces.
Deadly Shooting at Rush Hour
The attack in Jerusalem bus stop happened on Monday morning during rush hour. Two gunmen arrived in a car carrying rifles, ammunition and a knife. They opened fire on dozens of commuters waiting for buses at Ramot Junction on the northern edge of the city.
Attackers Neutralized
An off duty soldier and a civilian quickly returned fire and killed the attackers on the spot. Police later identified them as young men from villages near Jerusalem in the West Bank. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the scene.
Victims and Casualties
Israeli officials confirmed six people were killed including a Spanish national. Victims ranged in age from 25 to 79. Hospitals reported that several others remain in serious condition. Witnesses described panic as people tried to escape once they realized it was a terror attack.
Israeli Leaders Respond
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the scene and vowed stronger action against those behind the attack. He announced security operations around Palestinian villages and promised harsher measures. National security minister Itamar Ben Gvir called for more civilians to carry weapons.
