YouTube service restored after a major one hour outage as millions of users across the world faced streaming and access problems before recovery.
In a post on X YouTube confirmed the fix stating that users should now be able to play videos on YouTube, YouTube Music and YouTube TV. The company did not provide details about the cause or the full global impact of the outage.
The disruptions started just before 7am in East Asia and quickly spread across Asia Europe and North America. Reports showed that users faced errors when trying to stream videos or access YouTube’s apps. The issue appeared to be most severe in the United States.
Major disruptions were also seen in Japan, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. However the exact scale of the problem remains unclear as the data came from user submitted reports.

Downdetector recorded over 393,000 error reports in the United States at the peak of the outage before the numbers declined sharply. Smaller disruptions were also reported for YouTube Music and YouTube TV both recording fewer than 5,000 error reports.
