Violent Lahore TLP Clashes erupted Friday as supporters of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) marched toward Islamabad. Police fired tear gas and used barricades to stop the procession leaving dozens injured on both sides.
Thousands of TLP supporters gathered after Friday prayers at the group’s headquarters on Multan Road launching what they called the Gaza March. The rally led by TLP chief Saad Rizvi advanced through Lahore despite heavy police resistance at key intersections including Shahdara Chauburji and Azadi Chowk. Witnesses reported protesters wielding sticks and stones while police responded with baton charges and tear gas.
Clashes turned intense near Azadi Chowk where several police vehicles were damaged and over 100 officers injured. Authorities said the group hijacked cranes and public trucks for their march while TLP claimed police opened fire killing several members claims that remain unverified. More than 110 TLP workers were later remanded to police custody on charges of attacking law enforcement and vandalism.
DIG Lahore Faisal Kamran confirmed that the protest caused severe disruption across the city including blocked roads and damaged property. He said several abducted police officers were being located adding that the state will act firmly if violence continues. Meanwhile Punjab Police issued a statement accusing the TLP of exploiting religious sentiment and inciting chaos under the guise of solidarity with Gaza.

By late Friday night roads leading to Islamabad were sealed, mobile networks suspended and containers placed along major highways. Residents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad faced hours long traffic jams and widespread internet blackouts. Officials maintained heavy security at Faizabad and other entry points to prevent the protesters’ arrival.
