Islamabad Human rights organizations have raised serious concerns over the misuse of Pakistan’s blasphemy laws which are increasingly being exploited to intimidate the Hindu community. Originally intended to protect religious sentiments these laws are now frequently used as a tool for personal disputes and social harassment.
Reports suggest that Hindu families across several provinces have faced threats, social isolation, and even false accusations under these laws. Many victims have been forced to flee their homes to escape mob violence or legal repercussions.
Activists warn that such misuse fosters an environment of fear and discrimination particularly for minorities who already face systemic challenges in Pakistan. Community leaders have called for stricter oversight and legal reform to prevent arbitrary or malicious accusations.
The government has been urged to review the application of blasphemy laws and ensure that legal safeguards are strengthened to protect vulnerable communities. International human rights groups are also closely monitoring the situation to prevent further abuse.
